Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness – Hands on

Filled under: Home | sábado, outubro 31st, 2009 |
Tags:Hands on, Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness, Video

The chaps over at Mobile-Burn have posted up a video of Pureness being unboxed. Not everyone’s cup of tea and the artsy hoo-ha Sony Ericsson have tried to create around it is a bit cheesy, but the video is well worth a look. Again it seems that Sony Ericsson is based on its other smartphones. The important thing is we compare how you will behave the system  OS Android on their phones. Later each phone or just going to have models with the Android system and others do not.

Announcing Google Maps Navigation for Android 2.0

Filled under: Home | quinta-feira, outubro 29th, 2009 |

googlemapsformobile

Posted by Keith Ito

“Since 2005, millions of people have relied on Google Maps for mobile to get directions on the go. However, there’s always been one problem: Once you’re behind the wheel, a list of driving directions just isn’t that easy to use. It doesn’t tell you when your turn is coming up. And if you miss a turn? Forget it, you’re on your own.

Today we’re excited to announce the next step for Google Maps for mobile: Google Maps Navigation (Beta) for Android 2.0 devices.

This new feature comes with everything you’d expect to find in a GPS navigation system, like 3D views, turn-by-turn voice guidance and automatic rerouting. But unlike most navigation systems, Google Maps Navigation was built from the ground up to take advantage of your phone’s Internet connection.

Here are seven features that are possible because Google Maps Navigation is connected to the Internet:

The most recent map and business data
When you use Google Maps Navigation, your phone automatically gets the most up-to-date maps and business listings from Google Maps — you never need to buy map upgrades or update your device. And this data is continuously improving, thanks to users who report maps issues and businesses who activate their listings with Google Local Business Center.

    Search in plain English
Google Maps Navigation brings the speed, power and simplicity of Google search to your car. If you don’t know the address you’re looking for, don’t worry. Simply enter the name of a business, a landmark or just about anything into the search box, and Google will find it for you. Then press “Navigate”, and you’re on your way.”

    http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_IevKNrO7uCY/Sudi7cMuw2I/AAAAAAAAAK8/iWonWTXpMl0/s320/google-maps-navigation.png

    Search by voice
Typing on a phone can be difficult, especially in the car, so with Google Maps Navigation, you can say your destination instead. Hold down the search button to activate voice search, then tell your phone what you want to do (like “Navigate to Pike Place in Seattle”), and navigation will start automatically.

    Traffic view
Google Maps Navigation gets live traffic data over the Internet. A traffic indicator light in the corner of the screen glows green, yellow or red, depending on the current traffic conditions along your route. If there’s a jam ahead of you, you’ll know. To get more details, tap the light to zoom out to an aerial view showing traffic speeds and incidents ahead. And if the traffic doesn’t look good, you can choose an alternate route.

    Search along route
For those times when you’re already on the road and need to find a business, Google Maps Navigation searches along your route to give you results that won’t take you far from your path. You can search for a specific business by name or by type, or you can turn on popular layers, such as gas stations, restaurants or parking.

    Satellite view
Google Maps Navigation uses the same satellite imagery as Google Maps on the desktop to help you get to your destination. Turn on the satellite layer for a high-resolution, 3D view of your upcoming route. Besides looking cool, satellite view can help you make sense of complicated maneuvers.

    Street View
If you want to know what your next turn looks like, double-tap the map to zoom into Street View, which shows the turn as you’ll see it, with your route overlaid. And since locating an address can sometimes be tricky, we’ll show you a picture of your destination as you approach the end of your route, so you’ll know exactly what to look for.

Since there’s nothing quite like seeing the product in action, we made this video to demonstrate a real-life example:

See the Google Maps Navigation Video:

The first phone to have Google Maps Navigation and Android 2.0 is the Droid from Verizon. Google Maps Navigation is initially available in the United States. And like other Google Maps features, Navigation is free.

Check out the Google Maps Navigation page to learn more and browse a gallery of product screenshots. Take Google Maps Navigation for a spin, and bring Internet-connected GPS navigation with you in your car.

See the Googles Maps Navigation Satellite Video:

Now we need you Sony Ericsson to enter to the club android Go Go Sony Ericsson ;) No joke  guys but would love to see the android system OS not all in a sony ericsson but in most models. That a partnership between the developers and sony ericsson and developers google android seek harmony for such a system would be nice very nice!

    ERICSSON REPORTS THIRD QUARTER RESULTS

    Filled under: Home | quarta-feira, outubro 28th, 2009 |
Tags:ERICSSON, News, REPORTS, THIRD QUARTER RESULTS

“Sales of network equipment declined due to lower demand in the current tougher market environment. Despite lower volumes, Network margins remain stable.
The strong development in Professional Services continued,” says
Carl-Henric Svanberg, President and CEO of Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC).
“Our cost reduction activities are running ahead of plan with further opportunities for efficiency improvements and savings.

As commented on in previous reports, the economic climate affects the global mobile infrastructure market and the credit environment is still tight in several emerging markets. However, other markets, including the world’s leading economies such as China, India, US and Japan show good development.

The technology shift from voice telephony to mobile broadband is ongoing.
Mobile broadband users and traffic are increasing rapidly and will eventually connect billions of people to internet. With the shift follows the anticipated decline in GSM sales, accelerated by the current recession, which is not yet offset by the growth in mobile broadband.

Our services operation continues to show strong development. While managed services are often in focus, systems integration and consulting are increasingly important. Services margins are stable despite being negatively affected by the start up costs in the third quarter for the Sprint and Zain services contracts as well as the reduced scope and transformation costs for the renewed managed services agreement in Italy.

    ericssonQ4

In late September, we were pleased to welcome the former Sprint employees into Ericsson, and we look forward to soon also welcome former Nortel employees. This, together with the major contract wins with Verizon, AT&T and Metro PCS
in mobile and fixed broadband, makes Ericsson the leading provider of telecommunications technology and services in North America.

While the current economic environment affects all parts of society the longer-term fundamentals for our industry remain solid. Mobile telephony is reaching
a penetration beyond all expectations. We expect mobile broadband to show
a similar exciting development over the years to come, not least as the vast majority of the world’s population will be able to reach internet only through mobile technology. We are well positioned to lead our industry forward,” concludes Carl-Henric Svanberg.

    ericssonregional

Western Europe sales declined -6% year-over-year for comparable units. However, the region showed growth when adjusting for the impact of the reduced scope for the renewed managed services agreement in Italy. UK showed the strongest growth driven by managed services while Spain is still weak. Mobile broadband is growing strongly throughout the region. This creates demand for more spectrum, including new licenses for 2.6GHz and 800MHz spectrums and refarming of existing spectrum. There is also a continued increase in demand for managed services.
Sales in Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa decreased by -11% year-over-year.  This is the region presently most impacted by the economic climate including credit constraints. Egypt, Nigeria, Turkey and Saudi Arabia showed the strongest development. The Turkish market remains particularly strong with a continued fast rollout of 3G networks. New licenses are issued in the region, latest in Tunisia, where Ericsson was selected as one of the main suppliers of a new 2G and 3G network. The interest for managed services is strong in the region and Ericsson has signed several new contracts.
Asia Pacific sales increased 9% year-over-year. India was the largest market for Ericsson in the quarter. China sales were up significantly year-over-year due to major 3G rollouts. Japan and Vietnam also showed strong growth while markets such as Bangladesh, Pakistan and Indonesia were down significantly. Several operators are forced to delay investments due to credit constraints despite traffic growth. Government driven next-generation broadband and fiber backhaul networks are being built in several countries across the region…

Just another Video unboxing of the Sony Ericsson Aino

    Filled under: Home | quarta-feira, outubro 28th, 2009 |
    Tags:Aino, Sony Ericsson, Unboxing, Video

    By Michell Bak

“Here’s an unboxing video of the Sony Ericsson Aino that was released to market just recently. It’s quite a nice phone, although I must admit that I absolutely resent the keypad and soft keys. It’s way too cramped for my taste.

As you can see from the video, the Aino comes with a desk stand, Bluetooth headset, regular headset, battery, USB cable and 8 gigabytes of external memory.”

“We’ll publish a review of the Aino some time in November. I’ll just need to finish the review of Satio first (2,600+ words thus far) and then it’s off to start the Aino review. Also, check back tomorrow for a gallery of the Aino. I hope I’ll be able to publish a preview of the Aino on Friday, but please don’t hold your breath. I’ve got something else in store that could easily be a lot more interesting for true Sony Ericsson fans! :-)

It’s also worth mentioning that I’ll get the Yari tomorrow, and will publish pictures and a video of it. I’ll also do a preview, but I don’t think I’ll have time to do a full review of this handset.”…. words of Michell ;)
